In the different countries of the world various traditions of multi-color knitting were created. Samples of the Scottish knittings (fer-ayl style), the Scandinavian patterns, the West European and South American knittings are the most known. The majority of color samples with broaches or interlacing of threads from seamy side works are performed against chulochny knitting, when knitting the same kind threads of two flowers are used. One colored thread or both can be replaced with threads of other flowers in the subsequent ranks. In some samples three are used – or even four - colored threads in the same row, however in this case the knitted cloth becomes too dense.
Multi-color samples are usually carried out according to the scheme. Read the scheme, turning attention to additional instructions, count quantity of the loops which are carried out by thread of one color in the first row execute them, then count number of the loops which are carried out by thread of the second color, and provyazhit them. Continue to consider and change threads of different flowers of pas extent of all row. As soon as you execute the first row, look at the scheme to feel as the motive changes.
In many countries multi-color knitting is traditionally carried out around that considerably facilitates knitting of sample. If you knit circular sample of color knitting, read each number of the scheme from right to left. You will find out that in the majority of traditional Scottish samples colored threads change no more than through seven loops of each row, and broach from seamy side of work rather tense.
The interlacing through bigger number of loops does broach too long, therefore, better that not used thread through equal intervals has been interwoven into knitted cloth in order that the reverse side looked accurate. To change design of product use different types of yarn.
HOW TO HOLD THREADS
Simple way of change of colored threads: to leave one thread and to knit thread of other color. To accelerate knitting of multi-color sample, you can use one of stated below receptions.
KEEPING OF ONE THREAD EACH HAND
To hold thread and to work, holding spoke the right hand. Stretch other thread between fingers of the left hand. To knit from the thread withheld by the left hand enter the right spoke into loop, bring under it thread and, having captured her as hook, stretch through loop on the left spoke. When knitting back loop pay attention to that loops did not cross.
KEEPING OF TWO THREADS ONE HAND
Hold both threads with the right hand, thread of primary color over forefinger, and thread of contrast color over tip of middle finger. Knit thread of primary color as usual, then slightly turn hand to take spoke thread from middle finger for knitting of loops contrast yarn. In back ranks it will be easier for you to manipulate thread of primary color, holding it between big and index fingers, and thread of contrast color - over forefinger tip, slightly turning hand.
PERFORMANCE OF BROACHES
The broaches executed along row have to be poorly tense and equal that the knitted cloth was not wavy. Define what thread of color will lie from above, and always stretch threads in this sequence.
The INTERLACING the Thread which is not used, from seamy side can be passed over and under thread from which the loops alternating with it are knitted. In this case the knitted cloth turns out very strong. Or this thread can be twisted through some loops. Pay attention that the thread of contrast color was not visible from upper side.
HOW TO CONNECT COLOR SITES
Every time at change of color you have to connect color sites, differently on your knitting openings will be formed. All you need to do is, it to cross threads from seamy side of work.
In FRONT ROW Knit front thread of the first color (here, pink thread) to place of change of color, then leave thread. Take thread of the second color (violet) and obkrutit it round thread of the first color before knitting the following loop.
In BACK ROW Knit thread of the second color to place of change of color. Make sure that the first thread is wrapped round the second before starting knitting of the following loop.
CHANGE of COLOUR down When change of color happens in the same place throughout several rows, accurately cross thread to avoid emergence of openings or dropped stitches.
